After 20 years of war, the Taliban will form a new government!
The war in Afghanistan is over
According to CCTV news on September 1, on August 31 local time, U.S. President Biden delivered a speech on the end of 20 years of U.S. military operations in Afghanistan. Biden said that the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan has been completed. In the past 17 days, more than 120000 people have been evacuated, including about 5500 U.S. citizens.
Biden said he was responsible for the decision to withdraw troops. He acknowledged that there are still 100 to 200 Americans stranded in Afghanistan. He has asked Secretary of state Abraham Lincoln to coordinate with international partners to ensure that the evacuation continues.
Biden said that over the past 20 years, the United States has spent more than $2 trillion on military operations in Afghanistan, and more than 20744 U.S. soldiers and 2461 U.S. citizens have died. It is not in the national interest of the United States to continue the war. The U.S. action against terrorism has not ended. He said he will continue to combat the global terrorist threat, including the "khrushan branch of the Islamic state" (isis-k).
"This decision on Afghanistan is not just about Afghanistan, it is about ending an era of transforming other countries through large-scale military operations." He added.
In this regard, at the regular press conference of the foreign ministry on Tuesday afternoon, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan shows that the policy of wanton military intervention in other countries and imposing their own values and social systems on other countries is doomed to be unworkable and will only end in failure. Afghanistan has been able to get rid of foreign military occupation, the Afghan people have ushered in a new starting point for national peace and reconstruction, and the history of Afghanistan has turned a new page. China always respects Afghanistan's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, adheres to non-interference in Afghanistan's internal affairs and pursues a friendly policy for all Afghan people.
Wang Wenbin pointed out that the history and reality of Afghanistan show that to achieve peace, stability and economic development in Afghanistan, we need to establish an open and inclusive political structure, pursue a moderate and stable domestic and foreign policy, and completely draw a clear line from all terrorist organizations. China will continue to maintain close communication and coordination with all Afghan parties and the international community to provide support and assistance within its capacity for Afghanistan's restoration of peace, economic reconstruction, combating all terrorist organizations, including the East Iraq movement, and integration into the international community.
On Tuesday (August 31), the Taliban said that with the withdrawal of the last batch of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, the formation of the new Afghan government has entered the final stage.
"The government will take shape in the next few days," senior Taliban leader Anas Haqqani told Al Jazeera.
According to global network news, RIA Novosti quoted sources as saying that the Taliban will announce the formation of a new government on September 3. At present, it is unclear about the composition of the new government.
